In late December 2020, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) updated the Physician Fee Schedule Rule by placing a temporary 2% moratorium on the planned steep Medicare payment cut to Therapy and other providers who would be greatly impacted.

The moratorium is set to expire on March 31. Senators Shaheen and Collins introduced bipartisan legislation, Medicare Sequester Relief Act, on March 15 to extend the moratorium preventing payment cuts through December 31, 2021.  Congress can help by extending the current moratorium through the end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency.
